Bought this to use with skype, which it does just fine, and it's compatible with linux drivers in Ubuntu BUT make sure you have a dual core processor or else you won't benefit from any high resolution options this camera has.

Plugging it into my laptop (AMD 64 3400+, 646MHz 1GB Ram, XP) I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get high quality video until I read the manual and the minimum processor requirements are for a dual core. It still works, but can be a little sluggish on focusing and very pixelated on anything larger than 640x480 resolution.
