Please Help: Weird flicker when watching movies on my HTPC
I built a home theater pc about a year ago and have an Nvidia GE Force 7600 GS graphics card in it. I had all kinds of problems with the nvidia drivers when i first installed everything and it took weeks of tweaking to get the colors just right. It has some weird overlay software that is installed that you can adjust the colors and balances, and really just does more harm than good, but that's not really the problem.
There's always been a problem, and I think it's the graphics card itself doing some weird hardware color calculations or something, because when I watch dvd's or even movies that are on the hard drive, the screen sometimes flickers when there is a dim scene or high contrasts in the picture. It looks like it's trying to determine the best picture to show but flickers between a light and dark version every few frames in the particular scene.
Can someone recommend some software to fix this or should I just get rid of this graphics card and get a better one suited for htpc's?
